Who are we?

At Full of Joy Gardening, we empower you to create beautiful home gardens, offering expert consulting, personalized plans, and designs for native and perennial gardens, regardless of your experience level.

My name is Lani and I am a kids yoga teacher by trade, you can find me at Fullofjoyoga.com doing my kids yoga stuff. In between teaching the kiddos, I fell in love with gardening. My dad always had a garden in my yard growing up in central NJ. There were always way too many zucchinis, I remember my mom making zucchini quiches and giving them out to neighbors daily.

I didn't take an interest in it myself until moving into a 3 family home in New Haven, CT in 2007 and I had a whole shared backyard to work with. Up until then, I lived in apartments with no yard space. Every year I tried new ways of gardening, studied every type of system that would bring the best harvest. Learned from the rotating tenets who lived above us. It wasn't until buying a house and moving to Hamden, CT that now I had my very own yard that I didn't share and I really could do what I want. I started pulling out invasives, built raised beds (thanks Chris!), took out what wasn't needed and added more natives and pollinators each year as well as expanding my garden bed crops to grow in cooler seasons. I discovered the Gardenary method of gardening which is seasonal & intensive and I fell in love. I took the course and now am trained and certified to teach others to do the same.

We need something now more than ever that will bring daily joy to our lives. Whether it's digging in the dirt, planting, harvesting, sitting and admiring the beauty, or enjoying the endless creatures who use the plants for food and pollination, there is so much to find joy in a garden. The fact that you can just grow your own food is enough! Its so fun and so satisfying. Let me help you add this joy to your life.
